Atticus Finch
"Bad language is a stage all children go through, and it dies with time when they learn they're not attracting attention with it."
- Atticus Finch (Pg: 87) This quote is important to Atticus because it demonstrates how Atticus as a dad and a lawyer focuses on finding the good in people and looking past everything bad that happens. Atticus realizes when Scout uses pro fain language against her cousin, that she is just going through a stage in her life and will soon outgrow this stage. When Atticus states this quote he's basically saying everyone in there life goes through a point in their life when the go through a childish phase and eventually this phase will grow old. |
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
- Atticus Finch (Pg: 30) Atticus as a lawyer has learned not to judge someone before hearing their side of the story the whole way through, a person isn't always as they appear on the outside. Atticus is an incredible example of a person who treats everyone as an equal and doesn't judge a person by their looks or personality. We can all take a little something away from this quote about how we should be like Atticus and not judge based on looks and personality. |
